Hawn State Park, Missouri

We spent a few days at Hawn State Park. A very nice, small campground. Only a few spots with electric and they are hard to come by. Paved sites in among the trees.

We made a short trip to Ste. Genevieve to check out the sites. Carol loved it:

The campground had a lot of pop-ups and tent campers. So our little Aliner was a hit. We had to give several tours. One lady even asked if she could take a picture, complete with tripod.

The weather was great, sunny and cool. That lasted until Saturday night. A big storm rolled in with an hour of heavy rain, thunder, lightning and hail. The campground is down in a valley so our smartphone, laptop with air card, TV, etc. were useless. We aren't used to being totally out of communication.

We made it though the storm but several tent campers did not.

Aliner Painting

While I was out at the Aliner National Rally Carol painted me a painting for Father's Day. Awesome, good job!

2011 "Aliner Owners Club" North American Rally

I just attended (and worked a little) an Aliner Owner's Club national rally. It was held near Sparta, Illinois at the World Shooting & Recreational Complex. A huge campground and a nice event center complete with restaurant and bar.

It was a great time. Lots of different things to do, things to see, people to visit. There was a little over 100 A-Frame campers. A cool site to see so many together.

A lot of different setups and ideas.

Columbia Northwest brought 7 new Aliners for us to look at and check out. Carol likes the new Titanium Expedition with "Queen Bed".

Carol didn't go with me but she bought me nukeable food so I wouldn't starve. Most were not good but I survived. Luckily several meals were provided.

The weather got interesting a couple of times, but I had no problems this year.

As always it was good to meet up with old friends and meet new people. As always, it was a great time.

We had a little BBQ, and we had a good time. Craig's friend Dana came over.

Then Craig & Kevin & Carol played catch.

I think Kevin missed this one, but a good try!

Then the neighbors came over. We had a good time. A lot of laughs.

Mother's Day

We were camping this weekend. We got home about noon today. The boys asked Carol if she wanted to go out and eat. She said all she wanted was some pizza and coconut creme pie.

Kevin left and came back with pizza and lemon meringue pie. Oh well!

Pere Marquette State Park, Grafton IL

We just spent 4 days camping at Pere Marquette State Park with friends. The weather looked a little iffy but it turned out great. Sunny and wonderful.

Two years ago we camped here and the bugs were bad. Right after that we bought a screen room for the Aliner and we needed it this weekend. It worked out good.

The Illinois River & the Mississippi River were both in flood stage but they had gone down enough for us to get to the campground. We had reservations in two weeks for Caryle Lake but the Corps cancelled them The lake is so high the campgrounds are flooded.

Some of the gang we were with this weekend:

We got some bike riding in too.

You never know what you will find while out bike riding.

We had a great time.
