Carlyle Lake - Dam West

Camping at Lake Carlyle, Il. We decided to leave home early Thursday. We arrived at 11:30 AM. We knew checkout time was 4:00 PM but we never had a problem before. Most people leave early. This time we were wrong. So we spent time running around. Went and checked out Hazlet campground. We are scheduled to go there in October. We went to McDonalds for lunch and then went back for ice cream. We went to Walmart twice. All trying to kill time.

The guy that had our site finally pulled out at 4:05 PM.

When we finally got in the site it was great. A pull thru right on the lake. The bathrooms were across the street. Could not of been better. The only way I got this site was I checked online everyday for a spot on the lake. They are booked all summer and fall. Someone cancelled so that's how we got it. 

The weather was great. Sunshine and blue skies.

Friday the high was 87, Saturday about 91.

We did some bike riding. Rode across the dam and rode into town.

We had visitors too. Friends from our old Van Club days that live in Springfield, Il. Roger & Michelle. Turns out they have been regulars at this campground for over 20 years.

Today's forecast was for 99. We decided to head out early and go home.

Father's Day

I had a great Father's Day. The boys came over, had good BBQ and a lot of laughs. Nice gifts too!

New Faucet installed

Todays project was to install a new Shurflo Trinidad Elite folding faucet in the Aliner

Water pump installed

Another modification. I installed a water pump today. The hand pump at the sink was not very good. This works much better. Next thing we need is a new faucet. Coming Soon!

New light fixture installed

Carol wanted me to fix the cords on the lights she clamped to the shade bracket. I said we should buy new lights instead of the ones she was using. We went to the store. I picked out a fixture for $20.00. Carol picked out one that was $100.00. Guess which one we bought. It is a nice LED light, I'm glad we bought it.

Brown County State Park, Indiana

Gathering of A-Frames
I think we had 23 units at this Gathering. It was a really good time. We arrived on Wednesday and there were several already there before us. The whole time the weather was beautiful. Sunshine and blue skies. Cool at night and great during the day. The campground was really nice and everyone really enjoyed this Gathering.
The "bring anything you want" Pot Luck worked out, lots of good food.
We are looking forward to the next outing.

Mother's Day

Craig & Kevin came over and we went out to eat. Then just hung around. The boys climbed trees, rode bikes and harassed each other. Just like when they were kids, nothing changed.

Pere Marquette State Park, Grafton, IL

We returned to this park again this year with friends from our old van club days. They have 30' something travel trailers with several slide outs and one has a motorhome. We have our little Aliner. But it was all good. Weather was good too, a shower or two but no problem.

We had a good time and got a lot of bike riding in. Looking forward to the next time we all get together. Lots of good stories.
