Fathers Day

I told Carol I would BBQ for Father's Day. She asked Craig what he wanted. He wanted Bratwurst and Corn on the Cob. Kevin wanted Pork Steak, Hot Dogs, Bratwurst, Chicken, Steak, Deviled Eggs.

Carol didn't ask what I wanted.

Guess what we had: Pork Steak, Hot Dogs, Bratwurst, Chicken, Steak, Deviled Eggs, Corn on the Cob.
Everything.

Carol kept handing me things to grill. We ate good.

Another nice Father's Day!

Moraine View State Park, Le Roy, IL

Carol's brother has an Airstream and has a group rally every year at this campground. He invited us this year. The group was very nice and welcoming even though we really didn't belong there.
The weather was great, mostly sunny and cool the whole weekend.

When we had a 1988 Aliner our group thought it was like an antique. The Airstreams have been around a long time. This group had several from the 60's and 70's. Very cool.

Some of the Airstreams were totally stock, some were very modified. I like both.

This group was a lot like our group, several different characters. They like to eat too.

We managed to get in a little bike riding in too.

We had a very enjoyable time. I'm glad we went.

Another Sewer Back up

We left town for a few days to get away from the mess from our sewer back up. 15 days after the last sewer backup we had another one. We were 6 hours away from home at an Aliner Rally and we got a call from a neighbor that their sewer was backing up again.Nothing we could do. We left the Rally early the next morning and returned to find another mess. I hope the Metropolitan Sewer District finds something soon. Besides all the mess, we lost another freezer and refrigerator. These were 1 week old. The new Furnace & Water Heater survived, I guess the backup wasn't as deep this time.

Another claim to the insurance company and more clean up. I hope it's the last time.
I think we are ready to move on.

Aliner Owners Club at Thomson Causeway, IL

We finally got the new Aliner out to an event. This was a joint Rally with the Upper Midwest and Central Great Lakes groups.

Close to 30 units there. The weather predictions were terrible, rain and cold. We arrived Wednesday, it was hot and dry. Thursday was cooler with just a little rain. Friday was cooler with more rain. But as always we had a good time. Enjoyed the company and the event.

We had to leave early due to a problem at home. But we enjoyed the time we had.

STL Outsider Art Fair 2013

Craig was showing some art at this event. Like most art shows there were some unusual art and unusual people there.

Rain leads to Sewer backup in our finished basement

A week ago Carol called me at work and said the basement was flooding. I hurried home and found 4" of sewer water covering the whole basement.

Made phone calls to Sewer Company, Insurance Agent, Clean up Company, etc. The sewer water kept getting deeper. 4" then 6" then 8". Then a Carbon Monoxide detector was going off. Called the Fire Department. They shut the gas off and rescued Carol's makeup from the downstairs bathroom.  The sewer water kept getting deeper. Then the Fire Department called the Electric Company. When they arrived they shut power off to the house. At this point we had 14" of sewer water. We packed a few clothes and abandoned the ship. We went to a hotel.

The next morning we arrived to find the water had gone down but we had a huge mess. Disgusting!

After several days and 2 full dumpsters things are looking better. Carpet and vinyl is gone, all furniture is gone, bottom couple feet of drywall gone, etc. Things are cleaned up and dry. New furnace and water heater installed. New Dryer, refrigerator and freezer delivered.

Now to get everything re-built.
