Carlyle Lake, Carlyle Illinois - Dam West COE
Carol & I just returned from a great weekend at Carlyle Lake. The weather was probably the best weekend we have ever had. Sunny and 83 during the day, 60 something at night. Great for July!
We had a great site right on the lake. It pays to check the available sites daily.
Our site from the lake, we are right between a huge motorhome and a 5th wheel. The restrooms with individual bathrooms with a sink, toilet and shower were across the street.

My plan for the weekend was to sleep late, eat, bike ride, eat, take a nap, bike ride, eat, and go to bed early. That is pretty much what I did.
We had a great time. I forget how nice it is to go so close to home, only 1 hour and 30 minutes away. It seems most of our trips are a lot farther away.
Looking forward to retirement. May be we can do more of this.Sunday, June 30, 2013
Bennett Spring State Park, Lebanon, MO
We just returned from a Gathering of A-Frames event. We arrived on Wednesday and it was about 95 degrees with a heat index over 100. Very hot and humid.
Each day the weather got cooler and better. One night we had a little rain but everything turned out great. By Saturday it was beautiful.
We had ten Aliners, two Chalets, and one Rockwood at this event. Not a bad turn out since it was in Missouri.
Pot luck was great. Really good food and plenty of it. Great to enjoy eating and visiting with our friends.

Also had one of John Pfeil's famous fires.
