The start of my retirement trip. We are attending a rally put on by Dennis Archer, an ex-Aliner owner. He now has a Scamp. This rally is for anyone but mostly Scamps and Casitas. We arrived on Monday, September 30 with about 10 units already there for a rally that starts on Thursday.
I picked a site close to the shower house. As soon as we got there Carol went to use it. She did but found no lights, no flush, and it looked abandoned. The next morning we found out why.
It was abandoned and they started tearing it down.
We didn't spend much time here. The Government shut occurred at midnight. We were evicted. They gave us until Wednesday to get out. Dennis Archer had possibly 50 units coming so he found a commercial campground that welcomed us, Paris Landing KOA.
We packed up and started to head out and the GMC Terrain would not start. Got a jump and hooked up and moved.

Retirement
After working for St. Louis County Department of Highways & Traffic for 39 years I finally retired.
Awesome!
Had a nice lunch at work and got some very nice gifts.
Out the door for the last time:

Afterwards went out for a couple of drinks. A great sendoff.

Craig's art at St. Louis County Library
Craig has several paintings at the library for the month of September. We finally got over there.
Quite a few paintings, very nice.

Carlyle Lake, Carlyle, IL Corps of Engineer campground, Dam West
We just spent 5 days camping right on the lake with beautiful weather. When you book six months in advance you never know about the weather but this week was great.
We went with Carol's brother and his wife.
They had their Airstream.
We both had nice lakefront sites.
We didn't do much but relax, do a little bike riding and taking it easy.
This side of the lake has nice sunrises but I wasn't awake for most of them.
We had a very good time. Of course we will be back to this campground. It's one of our favorites and it's close to home.

We even had another A-Frame park across the street from us. Nice people.

Celebrating 62nd Birthday, early
Craig & Kevin came over today for my birthday dinner. Good food and laughs. 62 is ok, old enough for SS and old people discounts.

Gathering of A-Frames at Potato Creek State Park, IN
We had about 20 units at this event. A very nice park. A great time. Had a little rain on Friday. Thursday and Saturday were great. Enjoyed seeing some people we hadn't seen in a while. Always a good time at these events.
Fred & Vicki's new paint job!
Pot luck was delayed a day due to the weather but it was worth the wait. Carol said it was the best pot luck ever. Lots of variety and plenty of food. Who needs a meat dish? We had a lot of meat in the dishes that were brought. Nice job!
Cindy always takes a picture of us.
I rode the bike trail on my bike. Nice trail but too many hills.
I also tried out a new style bike, it hurt different muscles.
