Aliner Owners Club - Central Great Lakes Region

We just attended another AOC Rally. This one was in Shipshewana, Indiana. I think there were 45 or more Aliners in attendance. Very good for a regional rally. Some years the national events didn't draw that many. And I know it wasn't because of the cheap gas prices. I paid $4.11 a gallon on our way home.

On Thursday, about an hour before we got there, it started raining. It continued to rain most of the day and on Friday too. Friday afternoon it was rainy and 56 degrees. Hard to believe since it has been so hot and dry.
We spent part of the day in town checking out the various Amish shops and stores.
It's a little weird to be sitting at a traffic signal and looking into the rear view mirror and seeing a horse. Horses and buggies everywhere.

Friday night was pot luck. We had a pavilion which kept the rain off and we had a full house. Great food as usual.

Saturday morning it cleared and it was a beautiful day. It's always good to see all the different Aliners and things that have been done.

Some even decorate their tow vehicle:

Even with a little rain we had a good time visiting with everybody and meeting new people.

We had music and played games.

This trip was 870 miles and we averaged 17.8 MPG towing with our GMC Terrain.

Like every rally we had a great time and look forward to the next one.

McCullough Family Reunion

Old Orchard Gallery

Craig had a showing of three of his paintings at the Old Orchard Gallery. He had a big crowd to support him. It was a good time.

Thomson Causeway, Corps Of Engineers Campground

We just returned from a Gathering of A-Frames trip. Nice campground on the Mississippi River north of Moline IL-Davenport IA.
Being with the group was fun as always. Weather was ok, a little rain Friday morning but mostly good. Friday night Pot Luck was great, dinner out Saturday night at a biker bar was good.

I enjoyed a little bike riding and the evening sunsets on the river.

We drove 665 miles and averaged 17.4 MPG. I've had better mileage than that but I've also had worse.

We are looking forward to our next trip.

Carlyle Lake - Dam West

Camping at Lake Carlyle, Il. We decided to leave home early Thursday. We arrived at 11:30 AM. We knew checkout time was 4:00 PM but we never had a problem before. Most people leave early. This time we were wrong. So we spent time running around. Went and checked out Hazlet campground. We are scheduled to go there in October. We went to McDonalds for lunch and then went back for ice cream. We went to Walmart twice. All trying to kill time.

The guy that had our site finally pulled out at 4:05 PM.
When we finally got in the site it was great. A pull thru right on the lake. The bathrooms were across the street. Could not of been better. The only way I got this site was I checked online everyday for a spot on the lake. They are booked all summer and fall. Someone cancelled so that's how we got it.

The weather was great. Sunshine and blue skies.
Friday the high was 87, Saturday about 91.

Weird pictures:

We did some bike riding. Rode across the dam and rode into town.

We had visitors too. Friends from our old Van Club days that live in Springfield, Il. Roger & Michelle. Turns out they have been regulars at this campground for over 20 years.
Today's forecast was for 99. We decided to head out early and go home.
Packed up and ready to head home:

We had a great weekend and hope to be able to go back here again.

Father's Day

I had a great Father's Day. The boys came over, had good BBQ and a lot of laughs. Nice gifts too!
